The story: Texas Democrats just ditched their jobs—again. Why? To block a vote on a new congressional map backed by Texas Republicans and Superstar President Trump. The map would create 5 new conservative-leaning districts ahead of the 2026 midterms.

Translation: It reflects real population growth and demographic shifts. So naturally, the Left ran.

🚨 Abbott: They Abandoned Their Posts

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) isn’t playing games.

“They have forfeited their seats in the state legislature because they are not doing the job they were elected to do.”

He’s citing a 2021 opinion from AG Ken Paxton to possibly boot them from office. The legal path? A little rocky. But the message? Loud and clear.

Accountability matters. Elected officials don’t get to ghost the people they serve.

💸 Dems Are Now... on Vacation?

Dem lawmakers didn’t just leave Texas—they flew to Illinois, New York, and Massachusetts, where liberal leaders rolled out the red carpet.

  • Texas House Dem Chair Gene Wu even called the Texas map an attempt by Trump to “steal communities’ power.”

  • But Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D), who’s backing the Texas defectors, oversees a 14-3 Dem gerrymander in his own state.

If that's not peak hypocrisy, we don't know what is.

🗺️ The Left’s Map Games Get Worse

Democrats in New York and California are threatening their own redistricting rules to counter Texas.

Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) even said:

“We are at war… the gloves are off.”

Sure, but let’s be real: Hochul’s plan to rewrite New York’s map wouldn’t even take effect until 2028—unless she gets a constitutional amendment passed. So much for “saving democracy.”

New York GOP Rep. Elise Stefanik fired back:

“Big talk from Kathy Hochul, known even by her own party as the Worst Governor in America... You tried to rig the NY maps for Democrats. Not once, but twice. NY voters said no. The courts said no. You lost twice. Now you’re threatening to do it a third time? Not exactly a profile in courage. It’s a profile in hypocrisy. You will lose again in NY.”

Opinion: This isn’t a noble stand by the Deranged Democrats. It’s a sore-loser stunt to avoid losing power at the ballot box. They talk about “protecting democracy,” but behind the curtain, they’re rigging the game in their own states.

Maybe a smarter solution: California GOP Rep. Kevin Kiley (R-CA) has a better idea: Ban mid-decade redistricting nationwide. Stop the back-and-forth. Stop the chaos. Let the voters, not politicians, decide who wins.
